Elder Rhodes Southers

Rhodes Southers, of Holden, West Virginia, born March 2, 1906 entered into eternal rest November 2, 1995.
A member of the United Mine Workers of America, he retired as a blacksmith from Island Creek Coal Company. He went to work in the Vineyard for the up building of the Church early in his life and served as Pastor and Moderator for the Duncan Fork United Baptist Church of Myrtle, West Virginia and the Little Dove United Baptist Church Belo, West Virginia.
He was one of God’s staunch partners and leaves behind a host of friends and relatives and brother and sisters in Jesus Christ. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. As the tie that binds, “When we asunder part, It gives us inward pain; But we shall still be joined in heart, And hope to meet again.”

1983 â As our Brother needed help to get to the stand for time was catching up with him for many years had come and gone and God has continued to bless him. With these words he began “He began to read from Micah Chapter 6:7, “Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousand s of rivers of oil? Shall I give my first born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” Then he preached on the rock that came rolling down from Babylonia.” Many words of wisdom were given.
