We believe that Jesus Christ is the first resurrection from the dead and that He lives forever.

Matthew 22:23-33 KJV

(23) The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

(24) Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

(25) Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

(26) Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.

(27) And last of all the woman died also.

(28) Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

(29) Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

(30)For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

(31)But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

(32)I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

(33) And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

God does not say, “I was,” but “I am the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob.” The present tense shows that he is still the God of the departed patriarchs, and that they are still in existence.

Genesis 26:24-25 KJV

(24) And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake.

(25) And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac’s servants digged a well.

Genesis 28:13 KJV

(13) And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;

Exodus 3:6 KJV

  1. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

Job 19:25 KJV

(25) For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Psalms 16:9-10 KJV

(9) Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

(10) For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Mark 12:26-27 KJV

  1. And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the

bush God spake unto him, saying, Iamthe God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

(27)He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

Luke 20:34-39 KJV

  1. And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

(35)But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

(36)Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

(37)Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

(38)For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

(39) Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

John 5:18-29 KJV

(18) Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

(19) Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

(20)For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.

(21)For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneththem;even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

(22)For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

(23)That allmenshould honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

(24)Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

(25)Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

(26)For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

(27)And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

(28)Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

  1. And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

John 5:39-40 KJV

(39)Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

(40)And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

Matthew 28:1-8 KJV

(1) In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

(2) And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

(3) His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

(4) And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

(5) And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

(6) He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

(7) And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

  1. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

Matthew 28:11-17 KJV

(11)Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

(12) And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

(13) Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

(14) And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

(15) So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

(16) Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.

(2) And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

(3) And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

(4) And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

(5) And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

(6) And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

(7) But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

(8) And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

(9) Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

(10)And she went and told them t
